Fall is one of my favorite seasons. The temperature starts dropping (finally), the leaves turn beautiful hues of warmth, and the season signals an earthy change. The reason I enjoy seasonal decor is the fact that it makes me feel connected with the outside world. It’s easy to become robotic with work, the routine–and everything else in between. I refuse to lose myself in the routines that “adulting” brings. We are responsible for our individual happiness. Lately, my room has turned into my sanctuary. After a long day at the office it feels relaxing to come home and unwind in my own space. I decided that this year I’d go with a minimalistic approach to fall decor. There are basic touches you can add to your space which will make your space feel homey. Keep reading for some tips on decorating your room with fall decor. - Add a touch of pumpkin.
How can you celebrate fall without pumpkins? My favorite thing about the fall season is visiting the pumpkin patches around the city. I have a blast picking out pumpkins–and honestly feel like a kid again. I love that feeling. You don’t have to limit placing the pumpkins in your kitchen. Consider bringing them into your room as well.
2. Get a comfortable blanket with a fall print.
I picked this plaid blanket at Marshalls for less than $20. I keep a white bedspread underneath so I can easily switch out blankets according to season. It’s easier to do this approach and you can save yourself some $$$ along the way.
3. Add a touch of warmth with string lights.
String lights are so easy to decorate with. They can seriously add a touch of brightness to any corner or wall. I got these at Marshalls for less than $10.

4. Add fluffy pillows in different textures/prints.
I don’t have a lot of space in my room or bed so I told myself I wouldn’t buy too many pillows. Adding pillows of different sizes gives your bed dimension. The fun part about pillow decor is that you can mix and match. There’s not right or wrong!
5. Keep a mug next to your bed for tea
After a long day there’s nothing more fulfilling than drinking a cup of hot tea. It puts me right to sleep (not that I need help sleeping, because I’m in bed by 9PM 😉 )
6. Add the scent of fall with your favorite candle.
I literally spent 1 hour smelling all the fall candles at Bath & Body Works. I think the sales associates thought I was crazy because I kept pacing back and forth. Choosing a candle is NOT easy let me tell you. At last I picked the Marshmallow Fireside scent from Bath & Body Works, because it reminded me of the falls spent in front of the fireplace with my parents and sister. This scent puts me and my fur baby right to bed.
I hope these tips inspire you to decorate your room and space with fall decor. It’s all about adding that special feeling to every corner.
